GMI is India's leading contemporary music institute offering innovative programs that enable young musicians to shape their future in the global music industry.
The institute was founded in 2011 by Berklee alumni Aditya and Tarun Balani with the mission of bringing a distinctive and modern approach to music education in India. GMI invites diverse international faculty across stylistic and cultural backgrounds.
GMI is the first and only college in the Indian sub-continent to have an academic partnership with Berklee College of Music, US. Through the credit-transfer agreement (CTA), the curricular alignment between Berklee and GMI allows students to transfer specific courses taken at GMI to Berklee to complete their program of study. GMI also collaborates with Berklee to host clinics and workshops, faculty exchanges, auditions and interviews, and more.
GMI's partnership with Ableton for its music production programs provides support and training from International Ableton Certified trainers/Ableton staff, training and development for faculty, priority workshops when Ableton trainers visit India, for discussions/support towards fine-tuning the course structure and syllabus.
Global Music Institute has joined hands with the Delhi Govt. for the groundbreaking project - Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Schools of Specialized Excellence (ASOSE)
These are choice-based schools for grades 9 to 12 that allow students to specialize in their chosen fields of study within domains of STEM, Humanities, Performing and Visual Arts, Armed Forces and High-End 21st Century Skills. Global Music Institute has come on board as the knowledge Partner to design the curriculum, and build and implement the structure for the entire spectrum of Music courses under the Performing and Visual Arts domain.
